grocery run

after some indeterminate number of weeks, i finally had the chance to get out of the house so i decided to bring my camera with me. i didn’t really know what for at the time, but you know. just point and shoot, that type of thing.

i apologize if some of the shots are either out of focus or very shaky. i’m using my 7 year old (handheld, go figure) camera and i’m super out of practice. i just really wanted to do something for the sake of creating. i had fun shooting and editing this.

here you go.

It’s been so long since I tried my hand at video editing that it took me longer than usual trying to navigate Adobe Premiere.

But even longer since I last used my camera for anything. I was bored, so I asked my sister to stand in as a model for me. I hate how the clips look under fluorescent lights, so I want to try again with natural lighting. When that will be, I don’t know yet but I’ll make it happen when the opportunity presents itself.

I want to play around more with camera angles, sequencing, shadow and light. Next time, I might also alternate between using Adobe Premiere and Sony Vegas. I have to consciously exert effort into these projects because the last time I seriously dabbled in photography and AVPs was way back in college. And ever since I graduated, I haven’t really done much except for the times that I travel and compile my clips into a short video as a way to document the trip.

Video editing and filming are kind of fun.

If you managed to get to the end of this post, the password to the video is: protego.

soul, seoul, soul

One of the most memorable trips in my life was when I went to South Korea in October after my graduation. Autumn will always be my favorite season, even if it doesn’t really exist in the tropical sunny Philippines. It’s really an exhilarating feeling to drown in a crowd of people and let your soul feast on every single thing your eyes land on.

Korean food was also a discovery for me. There’s good food everywhere and you really do have to try everything at least once.

I find that the novelty of commuting in another country doesn’t go away, given the deteriorated status of your own public transportation back at home. It’s so far removed from everything you’re used to on the daily grind, where you think you certainly wouldn’t mind the commute to work if transportation worked as efficiently as they did in other countries.

I’d certainly love to come back to Korea and explore a bit more, because as always just five days aren’t enough. We did get to a lot of places though so I still maintain that we maximized the trip as much as we could.

Here’s a little snippet of those five days. 😉

unexplored

I’ve been incredibly blessed to be able to go back to Japan this year in autumn, and every time I go there, it’s certain to be a different experience all the time. Here’s a short glimpse of the week in video format, because I find videos more engaging than just photos because they are more alive to me.
